Corporate History

The origins of The Branch Group, Inc. date to 1955 when Billy H. Branch and C.W. McAlister teamed to pursue road and site construction. In 1963, this organization was reorganized and chartered as Branch & Associates, Inc. and has been continuous construction services since then. From this modest beginnings the Branch organization grew steadily, adding mechanical contracting and building construction capabilities in the 1970's and expanding via three major acquisitions in 1984, 1997, and 2007.

In 1986 the company was reorganized as The Branch Group, Inc., with the wholly owned operating subsidiaries providing heavy/highway construction, building construction, and mechanical/electrical construction. This organizational structure has enabled The Branch Group and its operating companies to build a formidable market presence in the mid-Atlantic region.

Today the Branch Group operating companies consist of:

	Branch & Associates, Inc, a general contractor serving public and private clients in the areas of institutional, industrial, educational, health care, hotel/resort, multi-family housing, and commercial buildings.

	Branch Highways, Inc., a heavy/highway/infrastructure contractor, serving a broad range of public and private clients specializing in fast-track site development, airport, infrastructure, and DOT highway/bridge projects.

	E.V. Williams, Inc. based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, offers highway, site development, and concrete paving expertise. E.V. Williams specializes in private site development in the Hampton Roads region and serves various governmental sectors including Federal, State DOT, and local municipalities.

	G.J. Hopkins, Inc. provides complete mechanical/electrical contracting for public and private sector projects. G.J. Hopkins specializes in health care, higher education, and industrial construction, offering turnkey design-build services.

	R. E. Daffan, Inc., based in Manassas, Virginia, is a leading builder of commercial, institutional, and industrial distribution/flex facilities serving both private and public clients throughout northern Virginia. Daffan specializes in design-build delivery, offering extensive preconstruction services.

In 1982 the Branch organization initiated its Employee Stock Ownership Plan, and today The Branch Group is a 100% employee owned company. The resulting ownership culture, where each employee has a vested interest in the success of each project and each company, has been a major contribution to our sustained growth and profitability.

The Branch Group Inc. celebrated our 40th Anniversary in 2003, a tribute to our dedicated personnel, and the partnerships we have enjoyed with our clients, subcontractors, and design professionals. We are currently engaged in fulfilling our Vision 2020, led by our CEO, Will Karbach. This vision for the future will enable us to continue to grow our company and deliver the highest quality services to our clients.
